Fine Dining

February 5, 2006

I had been regularly dining out for the past week or so and many of my colleagues had remarked that I did not carry a review of those places in moi blog! So here's a consolidated review of all of those places :-)

Shikaar,Banjara Hills:Located smack in front of KBR park on the LV Prasad-Jubilee Hlls check post Road, it is difficult to miss. The same bulding houses the Sundowner Pub.The Restaurant has two distinct cuisines to offer-Mughlai & Mexican. The Mexican section is called the Tex Mex whereas Mughlai section is Shikaar.

Now being a Vegetarian, i can only comment upon the Veg dishes.(Though, one can find a 'similar' review, Here.).For starters, one can have Veg Corn soup & Spring rolls. But the real delight is in the main course. Veg Biriyani's a real cocker here and there are 3-4 varieties to choose from.Tawa Biriyani is a typcial hyderabadi biriyani but is a lot 'juicier'.Intersped with a spicy gravy-ish touch, this dish is a lip-smacker for sure.t has a generous sprinkling of the usual veggies like carrot, spring onions, beans etc. its the masaledar flavour that really stands out.Shikaar also serves Arabic Veg Biriyani which is less spicy than the Tawa variety but is highly tasty.Decked with generous helpings of Kajus & Badam,it is good but doesn't manage to steal a march over the Tawa. Rotis & Breads are also available, though I had them only once. I'd recommend the succulent Aloo Dum Kashmiri which is a sweetish-curry somprising of Potatoes in a rich creamy Gravy. The sweetness is imparted by Pineapple & apple pieces. And for those who love chinese, Shikaar doesn't disappoint though.Veg Fried Rice or Veg Soft Noodles are good and Babycorn Manchuria goes as a great accompaniment.

All in all, Shikaar is a nice place to have a meal if you are of the ilk who likes some spicy Briyani &  hate driving up all the way to persis or Bawarchi. It is a quiet lace & traffic poses no problems.Service is quite good.Ambience is great, with nice seating surroundings & lilting music to boot! A Veg meal for two would cost anywhere between 200-500 though non-veg delicacies aren't too costly either. And for some Desserts, you can alwasy hop onto Melting Moments or Baskin Robbins, situated just down the road.
