Peking Palace

I 'Stumbled Upon' this quaint li'l eatery called (Very Unoriginal i must say!) Peking palace yesterday. I was in half-amind as to go in or not. My past expereinces with new eateries have not been that successful and I was apprehensive about this place too! But throwing caution to the winds, I went in and..well…was pleasantly surprised. Being all alone, I could partake of only three dishes and that would'nt be enough as to pass judgement on its Cuisine et al but from what I can say, it is a good place to have some quick grub once in a while.

I say 'Quick' coz they're really fast in their service. Before I could say "Sweet Corn Soup" twice, the piping bowl of soup was in front of me. Ditto the main course! The main delight of my sojourn was in the Main dish I'd ordered. I was a bit surprised to see Stuffed Potatoes on the menu! I mean…potatoes are the thhings that are used to Stuff other veggies (capsicum,Tomatoes etc) and what did we have here! Something was amiss, I felt. Anyways, i ended up ordering it and when It did arrive, it was bliss! Here were 6-7 medium potatoes, not whole but say 3/4th and were really stuffed with grated cheese, peas, cashews n stuff! A Li'l prodding got out the secret! The chef slits the mildly-boiled potato, scoops out a triangular piece, puts in the stuffing and places back the piece. And then bakes its and sautees it in a sauce of your choice! A nifty maneouvre which leads to one of the tastiest dishes I've had in a while!

The restaurant's located in Ameerpet, in the lane adjacent to Maitrivanam. As one goes towards Satyam theatre, take the small lane beside the Oriental Bank of Commerce. It is bang in front of Minerva Coffee House (Blue Fox Bar) and in the same building as Corn Club. A Veggie Meal for two should'nt cost above 200-250 bucks, excluding desserts! And thatz where I was pissed off  C'mon man…No Ice Cream to round off a delectable fare! Shucks!
