Yesterday night saw me Gallivanting around in the Lal Bungalow area for Grub. Normally I settle for the small dhaba callaed FlyOver bakery for some chinese fare but yesterday i didn't feel like having it any more! So i headed out in search of greener pastures and thereupon I stumbled across a quaint veg eatery called Naivedyam.
The word Naivedyam implies an offering to God, which most people do so at their daily worships. Now having such a name for a hotel might mean that they're offering good food to the customers who are treated like Gods! Not a bad idea!!! So off I trooped inside….I must say that i was their first customer for the night..and wherever I step in, people automatically follow…so is my charm
so, before long, the place was half-full!
It is a completely vegetarian hotel…so I thought of going for some rotis n stuff! The menu offered a delectable range of stuffed parathas which included Aloo, Mooli, Gobi, Cabbage, Laccha, Onion, Palak etc. I plumped for one paratha each of Gobi, Aloo & Cabbage, since they're the most nutritious & filling. Now most people won't prefer having a curry alongside such fare….having Raithas as an accompaniments; but me am different
so i chose some Chhole as a side dish.
A brief lull later, the first of my parathas came to moi plate and it was an aloo
paratha…pretty soon I gobbled it up. It was well-made & was fried in authetic ghee; which, I must say is not good for me at least. So I requested the guy to skip the oil altogether for my next round and they duly obliged. Gobi paratha was a tad disappointing as there was more of stems & less of the gobi inside it! Cabbage paratha was the best of the lot, eminently tasty & wonderfully made. It sorta melted in the mouth! The Chhole had the correct spices and condiments added and quantity too was sufficient.
All in all, a good find for me! I should visit it more often since it servers good fare for affordable rates. There are very few eateries which bachelors prefer frolicking to day after day and this might be one of them. Most of the other places are either too run-down or serve stuff that gets boring after once or twice! so having it on a daily basis is outta the question! Naivedyam comes across as a good place for people like me who prefer having nice homely food once in a while at affordable rates. A meal for two would not cost more than 150 bucks and that too if you're too lavish in your choices! It is located within the Meridian Plaza, Ground Floor, Lal Bungalow.
