San Marino Grand Prix – Friday Practice

Since Friday practice ain't aired over the television, fans are forced to keep tabs on it through the internet. And to my chagrin, Fernando Alonso was the quickest in Friday practice. Now, many won't read too much into it but IMHO, that is a harbinger of things to come…on Saturday & Sunday. Mark my words….this race too will be going Renault AND Alonso's way!

There was much talk about how Ferrari have improved leaps and bounds over the break and it was evident as Michael Schumacher clocked a fast time, only to be beaten by Alonso!

World champion Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in the second free practice session for this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix at Imola.Renault's Alonso clocked one minute 25.043 seconds to beat Ferrari's Michael Schumacher by 0.328 seconds.Schumacher was the quickest for the day, having lapped in one minute 24.751 seconds in the morning session. Felipe Massa was the third-fastest race driver in the second session, ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella.Britain's Jenson Button was 10th quickest for Honda, while David Coulthard was 19th in his Red Bull.

Stuffed ‘Stuff’

Yesterday night saw me Gallivanting around in the Lal Bungalow area for Grub. Normally I settle for the small dhaba callaed FlyOver bakery for some chinese fare but yesterday i didn't feel like having it any more! So i headed out in search of greener pastures and thereupon I stumbled across a quaint veg eatery called Naivedyam.

The word Naivedyam implies an offering to God, which most people do so at their daily worships. Now having such a name for a hotel might mean that they're offering good food to the customers who are treated like Gods! Not a bad idea!!! So off I trooped inside….I must say that i was their first customer for the night..and wherever I step in, people automatically follow…so is my charm  so, before long, the place was half-full!

Aloo Paratha & ChholeIt is a completely vegetarian hotel…so I thought of going for some rotis n stuff! The menu offered a delectable range of stuffed parathas which included Aloo, Mooli, Gobi, Cabbage, Laccha, Onion, Palak etc. I plumped for one paratha each of Gobi, Aloo & Cabbage, since they're the most nutritious & filling. Now most people won't prefer having a curry alongside such fare….having Raithas as an accompaniments; but me am different ;-) so i chose some Chhole as a side dish.

A brief lull later, the first of my parathas came to moi plate and it was an alooGobi Paratha & Chhole paratha…pretty soon I gobbled it up. It was well-made & was fried in authetic ghee; which, I must say is not good for me at least. So I requested the guy to skip the oil altogether for my next round and they duly obliged. Gobi paratha was a tad disappointing as there was more of stems & less of the gobi inside it! Cabbage paratha was the best of the lot, eminently tasty & wonderfully made. It sorta melted in the mouth! The Chhole had the correct spices and condiments added and quantity too was sufficient.

Cabbage ParathaAll in all, a good find for me! I should visit it more often since it servers good fare for affordable rates. There are very few eateries which bachelors prefer frolicking to day after day and this might be one of them. Most of the other places are either too run-down  or serve stuff that gets boring after once or twice! so having it on a daily basis is outta the question! Naivedyam comes across as a good place for people like me who prefer having nice homely food once in a while at affordable rates. A meal for two would not cost more than 150 bucks and that too if you're too lavish in your choices! It is located within the Meridian Plaza, Ground Floor, Lal Bungalow.
