I will be on vacation from tomorrow onwards – 29th December 2006 to 4th January 2007. I’ll be zooming off to my native place and shall usher in the New Year with Family and Friends. If time (and logistics) permits, I’ll be updating the Blog from home.

Sometime last week, I thought that It’ll be a good idea to pen down my thoughts and tabulations of the events in the past year according to the broad Genre they were part of. So that would mean a review of the personal as well as public events that unfolded in the past one year. And since there’s nothing much personal about me to reminescent about, lemme start off with Sports and the fastest motorsport at that – Formula One! For many a reason, 2006 can be said to be a watershed year for Formula One. Whilst it always will be remembered as the swansong year of Michael Schumacher – arguably the greatest driver ever to have held an F1 steering wheel – it also marks the successive defense of a F1 championship by a 23 year old known as Fernando Alonso. This is what I saw when I logged in today afternoon into moi blog and visited the Blog Stats page:
Evidently, WP.com must be putting together a widget that would show the Blog’s statistics over the bygone year…or even the past few years. But what seems surprising to me is the fact that my Blog was non-existant in 2003 and 2004!!! I started off in the year 2005 ! And also, what do the classifications of ‘Region A’ and ‘Region B‘ signify??
What is this thing that I’ve stumbled upon? A Beta feature? Or something unconnected to my blog? I’m as much in the dark as anyone else…..
Last week a unique requirement came up at work. After IE7 was released, I was using that as the secondary browser (Firefox being the default one) but it is a known fact that some websites do not render properly in IE7 whereas they do so seamlessly on IE6. Last Week, I was carrying on with IE7 for work-related purposes and suddenly for some fangled reason, it wasn’t loading the required pages properly. Any amount of tweaking couldn’t gt it to work and what’s worse, Firefox , Opera and Flock also were rendered useless.
A li’l bit of scouting…and I landed up at Deep’s Blog where he had written about how IE6 and IE7 can be simultaneously used on the same PC. The info was from Tredosoft, which had a unique custom-made installer which would let use install any version of IE from 4.0 upwards! It matched my requirements to a T. A few mins later, I had d/l’ed the installer and voila! I’m nos using IE6 and IE7 on the same machine at the same time……
P.S: There are a few issues with the Favorites menu not working properly on IE6. It crashed a few times when I imported my 7′s favs onto it and tried opening’em

Three days to go and WP has already rolled in the festivities……The Christmas themes have been put in place. Announced later earlier today, the Vermilion Theme is a Green+Red colored theme with the Christmas Tree motif and snowflakes which give it a festive look. Though I’m still in the dark abt why it is called Vermilion Itz named thus coz of the bright scarlet header color and its obvious picturization of Christmas! One minor eyesore is the [edit] button bang in the middle of the page below the posts! Of corz, the guests won’t be able to see it 
From 84 to 50! Thatz the position to which The Wierd Wired World has managed to grow!!! Once again, I’m part of WP’s Growing Blogs
