..and Arsenal Beat Manchester United
After Liverpool managed to defeat Chelsea with the help of two early goals, on Sunday, Arsenal defeated Manchester United (horrors!!!) with two late goals! It was dramatic stuff at the Emirates Stadium when Arseal equalised in the 83rd minute and when a draw seemed likely, Thierry Henry slammed home the winner as late as the 94th minute! Delight for the gunners and heartbreak for the reds!
The game started in a pulsating fashion with ManU keen to avenge their Old Trafford loss and though there never were many chances, United always looked like they would score first. The first-half was goalless though Rooney and Larsson came close and on the other side, Henry missed a header and then were not allowed a clear penalty! The game came to life in the second half when Patrice Evra managed a stupendous run along the left and drilled in a cross for Rooney to head home his first-headed goal for United! ManU held on to their lead and with less than 10 minutes to go, it seemed likely that they would go 9 points clear at the top. But a climactic goal from Robin Van Persie – who came on for Hleb just a few minutes ago – sidled home the equaliser from a Rosicky mis-hit. And it was all over for ManU in stoppage time as Henry rose magnificiently to head-in an Eboue cross and snatch a memorable win in place of a draw! The win takes Arsenal to 1 point behind Liverpool in the table and since both the teams at the top lost their matches, the gap between Chelsea and ManU remains at 6 points.
