The widgets on my blog seemed to be playing hide n’ seek with me all of today! For whenever I logged in, the sidebar would get reset to the default one leaving me scratching moi head! Initially I thought that the problem was due a recent theme change and hence I reverted back to the tried n tested Unsleepable! But the bizarreness in the widgets just would’nt go! Sometimes the entire sidebar would become empty and again upon re-login they would shift across to the bottom bar……drove me nuts all day long!
Then I did what i should’ave done at the outset itself - lodged a support ticket. Then a quick visit to the WordPress Support Forums showed that it was indeed a known glitch and people had reported similar observations. The geeks at WP got down to work and seems things are back to normal again! WP Roxx /
[Update] Something’s wrong again! Though the default sidebar is showing the contents correctly, the bottom bar seems to have acquired a life of its own
No matter what widgets I put in there, it always shows up the default ones! Moreover, the Widgets page under Presentation do show the widgets which I’ve put in there. But once I do a quick Save Changes, it reverts back to the default again! Guess I’ll have to sleep over it and let the guys down at WP take care of it. Thanks a ton guys…..for I’m sure that you would surely fix it by the time I Login again.

So Australia won the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in a comprehensive manner……scoring 281 in 38 overs and then restricting the Lankans to a moderate score of 213 (?) in 36 overs. I won’t ponder over the nitty gritties but suffice to say that they deserved it thoroughly! No one else comes even close and until someone really does, their dominance is gonna continue!
I also made some neat profit due to Aussies win
Not in any monetary way but moreso in a materialistic manner. Friends had the werewithal to back the Lankans in the clash and I was more than willing to back the aussies…that too across several friends & cousins! Hence the Yahoo Sig I sport today - Aussies Won! I Won!

April 29, 2007
Ah! My First post about Cricket….
So, after a month-and-a-half of matches, murders, upsets, run-chases, collapses, failed chases, four-wickets-in-four-balls, sixes, fours, tears, retributions, swansongs, wins and losses later - here we are at the Final of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup! And it promises to be a mouth-watering one as 1996 champions Sri Lanka take on the 1999 and 2003 winners Australia.
Australia will be aiming to acheive what no other team has ever one before - win three World Cups in a row and Sri Lanka will be just wanting to stop that happen! I personally think that the Aussies wll gonna win this one…simply because they have the all-round game for it and strategy-wise, they’re no dodos! So all’s set for a hat-trick of wins for the Aussies. But having said that, it won’t be fair to undermine the Lankans. They have a slight psychological advantage - having rested their spearhead Muttiah Muralitharan in their earlier encounter against Australia - and thus his bowling today will effectively be a surprise for the Aussies. A teesra maybe! Let the best team win!
On hindsght, has anyone noticed that the last five World Cups have featured Sub-Continent teams? Pakistan won it in 1992, Sri Lanka in 1996; Pakistan were the beaten finalists in 1999, India in 2003 and in 2003, it is Sri Lanka in the finals! So what does it take for a sub-continent team to get to the final AND win it? We’ll hafta ask Imran Khan and Arjuna Ranatunga that
News Just In: The start of the Final has been delayed due to rain. And Australia have won the toss and have elected to bat!

Mary Jane Watson: E kya horahat hae tohar ko?
Peter Parker: Hamein kauno khabar naahi….lekin hamein ee rokna padega!
Well, thatz not some lame dialogues I concocted but thatz how people in northern India will get to hear the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster - Spiderman 3! Because, believe it or not, Spiderman 3 is being dubbed into Bhojpuri!!! Google News has oodles of news items related to the fact that Spiderman 3 will be releasing in India this summer not only in English and Hindi but also the regional languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and - for the first time ever for a Hollywood movie - in Bhojpuri!!!
Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan will be lending his voice for Peter Parker a.k.a Spiderman and he promises that it will be a thoroughly entertaining stuff! You bet it would be
P.S: The title is a literal translation of the word Spiderman in hindi!

Many people are curious as to how can they listen to FM stations broadcasts over their internet connections on their PC’s. I had posted one or two threads for the same but seems people don’t read them that well enough
so for the benefit of those ‘lazy’ audience, I’ll take the trouble of informing them exactly how and what they need to listen to FM radio over the net. All they need to do is just post their message on the Contact form below…. (more…)

Now that I’ve moved into the Somajiguda area, the Minerva Coffee House at Amrutha Mall is within walking distance. I had heard good things about it but never had the chance to visit it. It also has two branches - at Himayathnagar and Ameerpet but apart from some light supper there, never had a full-fledged meal over there.
So took advantage of the time I had on my hands this weekend and trooped over there for breakfast and lunch. The idlis were kinda soft for liking but the accompaniments, were really good. They provide four kinds of miscellaneous chutneys including ginger, coconut and urad dal. Also had button idlis which are actually miniature idlis. Now Minerva is (was?) also renowned for its dosas…out of whcih the Onion Rawa Dosa was particularly well-talked about. But I didn’t find it that appetizng…in fact the onions were conspicous by absence. But my favorite of them all was its pesarattu…cho naaice
Lunch is kinda the regular fare - with North Indian thali consisting of Rotis, Biriyani and the usual Paneer/Rajma curries and its South Indian counterpart comprising chiefly of Pooris and Coconut rice.
The chief drawback of Minerva is its pricing! Its terribly expensive and out-of-reach for the common man. 25 bucks for two idlis and 48 bucks for a premium dosa is not exactly cheap! Plus the thalis are priced at 85 (south) and 115 (North) which is much more than what a customer would bargain for. But I guess it is due to the rich and popular name that Minerva commands. I nearly burned a neat l’l hole in my pocket and wouldn’t urge others to do so…..maybe only once!

I’d posted some funky ads some time ago and here are a few more of them. This time, they’re arranged in a neat little slideshow - courtesy Slide.com. The slideshow feature was added into WP today itself and looks good till now…..

Thatz me of corz! What with all this workload and all…..I’m unable to take out some time even for some casual chit chat! There have been some changes at the workplace that has necessitated some longish working hours and thatz having an impact on my online presence and the stuff that I put therein! I still regularly visit the blog and the FreeHyderabad forums but apart from those, my online sojourns are restricted only to work-related stuff and emails!
Lemme see what all I’ve been missing and since when….
- Orkut: Haven’t been there since like 5+ months!
- SportzForumz: Last visit was 15 days ago and the previous one wasn’t even in this year!
- ThinkDigit: No visits at all in 2007!
- Chip-India: - ditto -
- Wired: More than a month ago
- Gizmodo: 2 Months ago….when the iPhone was launched.
- Engadget: - ditto -
- PagalGuy: No visits this year!
- Raaga: January methinks was my lats visit…Aap Ki Khatir was the last-listened
- IndiaFM: Was there to read the review of Honeymoon Travels
- IMDB: Last trooped there to check out Luke Wilson’s filmography
- Hollywood: Peeped in a month ago to check out Hills have eyes 2…and errr…I’m talking about the website
So thatz how lacklustre and sedate my web travails have been! Wish I could chuck it all and get a nice li’l web-surfing-for-money work somewhere…….
Wishful thinking!

In the recently-released war movie 300, there is an acerbic exchange between the Persian Emissary and King Leonidas of Sparta that stands out as a precursor to the war between the 300 brave Spartan soldiers and the massive Persian army. Now here’s an exchange on similar lines: (more…)
