So after much rain and delays and frayed tempers and four-day-long-matches, Wimbledon is on course to finish on schedule. The ladies’ finals is to be held today and features the 18th seed and the 23rd seed! Surprising, considering that the top-seeds were so much the favorites. After 23rd seed Venus Williams beat (my) favorite Maria Sharapova in the Ro32 and then dismissed off Svetlana Kuznetsova and Ana Ivanovic in the QF’s and SF’s respectively, she faces the conqueror of the No.1 seed Justine Henin-Hardenne – 18th seeded Marion Bartoli. I had watched the Henin-Bartoli batch till the 2nd set and then switchd it off thinking that it would be a routine victory for the Belgian top seed…but it was not to be!
In the Men’s section, Andy Roddick somehow lost his QF match against Richard Gasquet after being 2 sets and a break up! In the SFs, Gasquet will take on Roger Federer whilst the second SF sees 2nd seed Rafael Nadal take on 4th seed Novak Djokovic. I’m all for a Rog Vs. Rafa final.
