Yet another popular Video Game’s being made into a Movie (well, the last successful franchise I remember was the Lara Croft series). The Hitman series is being made into a movie – whose trailer I happened to catch up on Apple Trailers. The Hitman game series is a FPS game with the main character being a Hitman (obvious isn’t it!) who is referred to as just “Agent 47″ (Why? I dunno!) and whose job is kill some designated targets. I’d played a few demo versions of the game and promptly ditched it as I found it to be a tad slow and boring at times.
Now its being made into a Movie starring Die Hard 4 villain Timothy Olyphant. The Movie synopsis reads thus:
Agent 47 (Olyphant) has been educated to become a professional assassin for hire. His most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck, and his only name. The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase the HITMAN across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they’re trying to take him out of the game. But the greatest threat to 47’s survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl.

The biggest mystery herein is why Timothy? He just doesn’t look the part! And his bald-headed look is plain *ugh*! No doubt that the best suited actors for this role would be Vin Diesel or Jason Statham. Indeed, as IMDB says, Diesel was supposed to produce and star in this movie but I guess things didn’t work out. And I’ve read somewhere that Hitman fans voted for Statham as the actor they’d love to see play Agent 47.
