Hutch Today, Vodafone Tomorrow
That is not because I’m gallivanting off to the United Kingdom! But coz the Hutch brand will cease to exist from tomorrow and instead will be branded with the new name of Vodafone. This was on expected lines, after the UK-based Vodafone acquired a majority stake in Hutchinson-Essar India.
The brand name Vodafone will replace Hutch from September 21, fully reflecting the change in ownership of the GSM wireless telephony operator.The brand transition will be made over the next few weeks through a ‘high profile’ campaign covering all media, said a statement from Vodafone-Essar.

And as the reports suggest, the much-loved Pug would continue to be the Brand Ambassador of Vodafone. But the tagline of ‘wherever you go our network follows’ would be replaced by the new one of ‘Make the most of Now’. Must say that Vodafone has been very proactive in the brand change campaign..continuing from where Hutch left, they have incorporated the red colour very well in their campaign. Will make a good case study…Hutch has gone from Orange to Pink to Red…but the Pug has been the constant.
