My Alma Mater – Jagannath Institute for Technology & Management or JITM, is now Centurion University. The Orissa Assembly has passed the Centurion University of Technology & Management Bill 2010 which was tabled towards the end of July and it will pave the wav for the creation of the independent university. It will be based at Paralakhemundi, and the JITM Trust will be responsible for its functioning.
The university will be unitary, self-financed and it will be established to provide advanced knowledge in branches of Engineering & Technology, Medical Science and Genetics, Humanities and Social Science, Management, Law, Vocational Education and Training, Tribal and Development Studies. It will ensure the standard of the degrees, diplomas, charters, certificates and other academic distinctions laid down by the UGC.
The Governor who will be the visitor will have sweeping powers and can call for any papers or information relating to the affairs of the university. The Chairman of the Trust will be the President of the university, while the university will have its Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and other regular functionaries. [Source] [Another Source]

Now thats its a university they should try to diversify into other fields like polytechnic, +2, ITI and diploma courses that should help them to rope in a few more candidates. They could also try to provide “group” courses like 6 yrs +2 and Engg courses wherein candidates need not go in for JEE exams, that should bring some local guys join them. JITM has an unfair disadvantage of being on the other side of Odisa where people dont prefer to move in.

There shouldn’t be back papers for students. The management should somehow pass them.
Passing of student depends on their own effort. The management should provide all the needs to understand the subjects and good tutors. But passing the students more like justices for the hard working and sincere students….
Why the fuck there are so many back for students? Do the management and faculty feel proud of such activities? Better to stay in hell then to study in c.i.t. Bad wishes.

whats the admission criteria for foreign students? what about the fee structure and hostel fees too. i would like to know the placements form the universities as i@m interested in getting admitted for MBA programme.
UGC had approved the Centurion univ as only private university of Odisha , status being higher than a Deemed to be university. so now care should be taken to see that all meritorious and qualified persons are given the opportunity of being placed as Faculty. I hav data in many institutes of technology in Odisha , faculties are posted back door with back business and even a meritorious candidate does not get himself/herself short listed. That is the fate. Hence many faculties in Engineering without any background fail to teach and simply kill times in helping students in Exam hall in suppiyng copies. with dignity. Such was the condition , in many colleges the pass pewrcentage is gradually decreasing from year to year .So , to establish the identity , all out efforts should be taken to recruit qualified faculties in the interest of the university, in the interst of Odisha and above all in interst of India.

Hearty congratulation to the management that their strugle got succes. It should be a good moral educational center. All the decepline should be maintained strectlly. Advanced methord of teaching should be imposed here. The fecilities like good fooding, good librery, health test, should not be driven out. Over all I think it will be a good Technical University of India.

A search for ‘JITM blog’ lead me to this. It has been over a year that JITM has become CUTM. The changes are there. Comparing it with JITM standards we can say it is showing signs of improvement. But when we compare it with other one campus colleges such as OEC or even a conglomerate like Koustuv group of institutions; or say with many leading colleges of the state; we still stand nowhere.
The main motive for gaining University status is money and in the name of social welfare they are only bullshitting around.
