Vector – The Game

For those of you who’ve been wondering what was keeping me away from writing more often on the blog, the answer is pretty obvious: Work. And for those of you who don’t believe that, I’ve got another answer: Play

Amongst others, one game that I’m majorly hooked onto nowadays is a Parkour-styled run n’ escape game called Vector. Yes it is the one of the umpteen keep-running games like Temple Run or  Subway Surfers but for me it is slightly better than those two. I prefer the horizontal running style as compared to the linear one in TR or SS, maybe it was all those years of playing Contra for 50 bucks an hour at Relax Parlour behind St. Vincent’s!

As with any game, there is quite a backstory to this one: you escape from the prison-esque situation of being in a controlled environment where an unseen force manoeuvres you each step of the way with neural sensors. And what do you do after escaping? You run, of course! You run across rooftops, penthouse offices, construction cranes et al with a combination of freestyle running and neat parkour styled combo moves. See the video after the jump.

Firefox 19 – Released February 19

Oh yeah, the new version of Firefox is upon us.

Firefox 19 for Windows, Mac & Linux was released yesterday with some bug fixes and major change being an in-built PDF viewer. We’ve been using third party (read Adobe) add-ons until now to view PDF files within the browser itself, now no need for those. PDF files will open within the browser itself, a la Chrome.

See the full release notes & changes here and download the latest version by clicking on the banner below.

Happy Bhogi, Sankranthi & Pongal

Sankranthi_Wishes

Can you smell the freshly cut paddy? Do you see colourful kites in the sky and colourful rangolis in front of homes? Have you come across bonfires in courtyards at the break of dawn?

If yes, then the spring season is upon us. Which for all the Telugus across the world means it’s Sankranthi time…

Here’s wishing all ye folks a Happy Bhogi, Cheerful Sankranthi  and a fun filled Pongal.

2 Themes. 2 Updates

So WordPress launched 2 new themes today.

Good, I thought and then proceeded to close the tab and move on. But somehow I lingered on…wondered whether can I use them on my blog(s). One was a clean and two/three column theme for a normal blog whilst the other was a portfolio-styled theme for a photo blog.

They were a perfect fit for two of my seldom-updated blogs. And so, lotsa clicks and tweaks later, they’re proudly showcasing my er..um…works.

The Yoko theme is gracing this blog whilst the MixFolio theme is over at My Purely Placid PhotoBlog.

Click. Go. See. Comment. Thank You!

What I’ve been up to?

It has been a while since I’ve graced my own blog with some words.

Once thriving and lush as the Amazonian Rainforests, it has now become arid as the Rann of Kutch.

Ok,  that was a bad pun!

So, what I’ve been up to all this while (except from being “on a sabbatical”) was:

  • Busy with work (yep, an original excuse!)
  • Twittering now & then
  • Instagramming (Since I wasn’t er…Flickr’ing that often. Username’s cranjan, do check out if you’re also using it; I could do with some likes!)
  • Watching all the old Tommy & Tuppence TV series
  • Seasons 3 and 4 of White Collar & Castle respectively

and the biggest pastime of them all…..

  • Procrastinating!
