We can haz Reblog! (via WordPress.com News)

Tired of copy-pasting or including a link to a blogpost you liked and wanted to share with your own readers? Ever thought of a process by which you can share some amazing content with others with just a few clicks? And not simply via, ahem, a cumbersome *Retweet* button?

Fret not. The folks at WP have extended this awesomeness into a feature called “Reblog”. This, my friends is the “Retweet” of WordPress. “Reblog”. How original, huh!

We All Like to Reblog Have you ever come across a blog post that you enjoyed so much you wanted to easily share it with the readers of your own blog? Sure, you can copy and paste the link and perhaps even a snippet of text with your own comments, but overall it’s not a particularly enjoyable experience. We wanted to change this and make sharing other posts with your readers as easy as posting to your blog. Today we’re introducing a new like and reblog feature enabled … Read More

Workaround for Windows Live Writer on Windows 2003 Server

Yesterday I was lamenting about my WLW Woes with Windows 2003 Server but later on I realized that I’d overlooked one crucial factor! An old adage goes that look before you leap. The modern-day equivalent of that could easily be search before you speak!!! Coz after I’d posted that, I did a bit of Googling that ultimately presented me with a work-able solution.

Thanks to Thomas and J.Lai, I came to know that the reason behind WLW not installing on Windows 2003 server was not an issue with the editor itself or MS’ purported move-over to Vista-only software but was because of a truant installer package! One can safely (and more importantly, successfully) install the WLW Beta 3 by running the MSI package [available here]. I did that and voila! here I am typing out this post in WLW Beta 3

But not before sending out a feedback from the WLW Spaces Blog and even contacting the Cust. support. And I got not one, but two replies – the first letting me know that I had an “isolated and unique” inquiry and promising to forward it to the “product specialists” and the second (probably from the hitherto mentioned specialist) informing me that “Windows 2003 Server and Vista x64 are currently not supported” and assuring me that it would be submitted as a “product feature request”. Yeah all Right!!! Tx. but No Tx.

P.S: Again…too many W’s

Windows Live Writer woes with Windows 2003 Server!

A casual trip to the Spaces blog made me notice that Windows Live Writer’s (WLW) Beta 3 was available for download. Having been a regular user of WLW, I thought of upgrading it and hence downloaded the installer. Woe befell me when I noticed this message when I attempted to ran the installer:

My OS is Windows Server 2003 and my immediate thoughts were ‘Dang! MS People have made it Vista-only!!!’ Luckily, I hadn’t un-installed the existing WLW from my system. So I have to wait till the official release is made available (what if that too ain’t compatible with Windows 2003 server :| )

P.S: Too many W’s in the title, weren’t they?
