After my previous post related to the weekend movie watching, I kinda think now that every monday, I shall share with you all the movies that I have seen over the weekend. Now that there is a TV & a DVD player to abet me in this noble task of movie watching, the blogposts will be far more bulky and sizeably long I guess!
It all kicked off with the majestically-made disaster move The Day After Tomorrow. Directed by Roland Emmerich ( Universal Soldier,Independence Day,Godzilla), the movie's all about a climatic change bringing about a calamitous situation in North America. Though there were loads of special effects, the movie was not that good. There were no poignant moments as in Independence Day and the prime characters (Dennis Quaid & Jake Gyllenhall) seemed plastic…….though the lead actress (Emmy Rossum) was kinda cute Next up was the smash-hit comedy caper No Entry. A remake of a south-indian movie, this film had Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan cavorting with sultry siren Bipasha Basu whilst keeping it secret from their wives Lara Dutta, Celina Jaitley & Esha Deol. Absolute mayhem ensues when they come to know about it and a comedy-of-errors ensues. Apart from very delectable skin-show, the movie had some great comedy. An absolute time-pass movie! While the above-mentioned two movies were watched on da DVD, the next two were seen on da Cable TV. Saturday saw us ensconed in front of the TV , watching the hammy Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham!!! A no-brainer of a movie, I was forced to see this tear-jerker just coz my roommate was a big fan of sentimental movies 👿
Next day was the turn of the cult horror classic Evil Dead II and the Oscar-Winning Gladiator. Though none of them were viewed completely, we had seen'em so many times that seeing even a snippet was enuff One movie which we were very keen on watching but ultimately skipped seeing was the Arnold Schwarzenneger starrer Terminator III:Rise of the Machines ! Though it was less admired than Terminator 2, it is a watchable movie. Just for the sake of Arnie and the suave Kristanna Loken as the Terminatrix! Sunday night saw us stuck in front of the TV for yet-another tear-jerker. Kal Ho Naa Ho this time! Though I dislike SRK ( and my roomie adores him) I watched this one just for the songs and of course, Preity Zinta . Saif Ali Khan also was very nice in this movie, which would'ave been a damp squib without these two actors in it! A nice way to roundoff the movie-watching spree was The Bone Collector. A murder mystery which starred oscar-winner Denzel Washington as an invalid cop who is helped in the investigation by an up n running cop played by Angelina Jolie . They must see as one, act as one in order to catch the dreaded serial killer. A thoroughly engrossing movie, I've seen it for the nth time, I must say!
So, that was all about the weekend-movie-watching spree. I must say that we were able to see 'em coz there was no Formula One race this weekend! Next weekend , there's a race at Silverstone and I doubt we'll be able to see as many. Keep guessing till then. And if you've any recommendations, please do suggest'em in the comments. We'd try to watch those classix that you recommend.
