FIFA World Cup 2006 – Day 1

It was a terrific start to the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. The Opening ceremony was superb and the first match that followed was awesome. Germany took on Costa Rica in the opening game in Munich's Allianz Arena and what a match it was!!! Sure, it ended 4-2 in Germany's favour but Costa Rica playedsuperbly. The First goal came as early as the 6th minute when Philip Lahm curled in a great shot into the net. Costa Rica equalised through Wanchope in the 15th Minute who again added a second but then two goals from Miroslav Klose, on either side Wanchope's second strike took the match away from the Costa Ricans. Torsten Frings' StrikeThe highlight of the match was undoubtedly the 4th German goal, which was hammered into the net from 25 yards out by Torsten Frings. Superb goal, that was! The Second match of the opening day was between Poland & Ecuador. The less-fancied Ecuadorian side finishing 2-0 winners over their more-illustrious opponents, with goals from Tenorio & Delgado
