2013 – Silence of the Blogs

My most silent year yet on the blog. Though I’ve put up a flimsy excuse of a reason on the sub-header of the blog title, it is just that – a flimsy excuse. Several other factors preclude that…but that’s for another blog post 😉

As they do every year, the WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog. So it goes…

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 20,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

I’ve Moved

Ever heard of a sabbatical within a sabbatical?

For those of you who noticed, I have been on a self-imposed sabbatical from blogging & social networking for a while now. But there was the odd post or two here or some random pics over on Instagram and some smattering of tweets over at Twitter. But over the past month or so, there was radio silence over there too…

The reason? I’ve moved.

Not away from the city I’ve made my home for the past 9 years. But into a new locality. Having stayed at pally and pet and guda for all this while I have now moved to a pur.

No prizes for guessing which one!

Italic Text

I just noticed whilst reading some old posts that if the post text is in italics, the letters are cut-off towards the right margin of the post. Seems to be very less padding between the post area and the margins.

This post is to test whether it is happening with older posts or current ones as well. If it does, surely it is a fault with the theme and I gotta report it to WordPress accordingly.

Vector – The Game

For those of you who’ve been wondering what was keeping me away from writing more often on the blog, the answer is pretty obvious: Work. And for those of you who don’t believe that, I’ve got another answer: Play

Amongst others, one game that I’m majorly hooked onto nowadays is a Parkour-styled run n’ escape game called Vector. Yes it is the one of the umpteen keep-running games like Temple Run or  Subway Surfers but for me it is slightly better than those two. I prefer the horizontal running style as compared to the linear one in TR or SS, maybe it was all those years of playing Contra for 50 bucks an hour at Relax Parlour behind St. Vincent’s!

Vector iPhone

As with any game, there is quite a backstory to this one: you escape from the prison-esque situation of being in a controlled environment where an unseen force manoeuvres you each step of the way with neural sensors. And what do you do after escaping? You run, of course! You run across rooftops, penthouse offices, construction cranes et al with a combination of freestyle running and neat parkour styled combo moves. See the video after the jump.
