Contrary to popular belief (well, not really that popular considering it was only me) this is NOT the Part 2 or sequel of the Urmila Matondkar – Saif Ali Khan starrer Ek Hasina Thi!
Ek Deewana Tha is actually the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa which had Simbu and Trisha in the lead roles. It was also simultaneously made in Telugu as Ye Maaya Chesave with Naga Chaitanya and Samantha innit. Though both movies became hits, their standout point was A.R. Rahman’s music – songs & tunes are the same in both versions. The Hindi version is directed by the same director – Gautham Menon and has Pratiek Babbar and Brit gal (A Miss Liverpool!) Amy Jackson & is said to have two completely new songs.
Though I’ve never been a fan of Telugu movies of this type, YMC registered a seismic presence around me coz of the incessant chatter about how good it was, how good the music was, how gorgeous Samantha was blah blah blah…couple of my friends were so hooked to the music, they had it as their ringtones as well as caller tunes! This post is dedicated to them…
Seen the newest Idea Cellular advertisement featuring Abhishek Bachchan as a tree, exhorting people to Use Mobiles and Save Paper?
Its part of the “Save Paper” campaign by the Aditya Birla Group – http://usemobilesavepaper.in/index.php. Exactly how
they we’re to go about doing it is still a bit unclear to me 😳 maybe a part II of the campaign will be unveiled soon.
For starters, Idea themselves can stop selling their chota recharge vouchers on paper and do away with the booklets and manuals that accompany a new connection 😛
What an Idea, sirjee! 😎

Wondering why I’m listing out such inane translations for what are mostly “American” words? Well, coz that’s how our Murli Prasad Sharma a.k.a. Munna Bhai and Sarkeshwar a.k.a Circuit are trying to learn the “Amrikan bhasha” 😀 . These are probably the movie’s lines and I’ve taken them from the promotional poster of the 3rd instalment in the Munna Bhai series of movies – Munna Bhai Chale Amerika.
Seen the theatrical trailer of Ghajini? Remember the lilting beats in the background (before the action kicks-in)? The beats are from the song Guzarish, the video of which was released just a while ago. I didn’t catch it on any of the TV channels but happened to watch it at IndiaFM (a.k.a Bollywood Hungama)
The song’s kinda nice (well, one gets to hear just about a minute of it!) and I have a sneaky feeling its sung by either Srinivas or Javed Ali. You music geeks out there have a better idea? Put it forward! If you wanna watch the vid, head over to IndiaFM or just catch any of the YT vids floating about. One’s here after the jump…
It releasing here on the 7th of November and I sincerely hope that unlike last time around, the English version is released simultaneously as the Telugu version. Bond fans will remember that for Casino Royale, the Telugu version – Prapanchaaniki Okkadu – was released earlier and was allowed to run for two full weeks before the English version was released in the theatres! Some of my friends went ahead and watched it in Bengaluru!!!
Hope sanity will prevail this time around. Here’s a theatrical trailer to whet up your appetite for QoS:
