Radio Mirchi Launches in Hyderabad!
April 21, 2006
Yes! Itz true! When i heard the radio blaring some telugu song en route to work today, I thought that it was Vividh Bharati’s FM Rainbow, as usual…but i was pleasantly surprised when i heard the ad after the song, announcing itself to be Radio Mirchi…..one of the hottest FM stations in India!

Here’s the Official Press Release:
Entertainment Network (India) Limited today informed the BSE and the NSE that it had launched its new FM radio station in Hyderabad under the popular brand name Radio Mirchi.
Radio Mirchi
95FM98.3 FM (From August 1st) Hyderabad is the 10th station of ENIL to start operations. The station went on-air at 6:00 am today, with the voice of Southern superstar Chiranjeevi being the the first sound on the station.
Radio Mirchi is acknowledged to be the leader among the private FM radio broadcasters in terms of revenues and listenership.
With its launch, it has heralded a new era in Entertainment for Hyderabadis. Whereas FM Rainbow has been doing good since it was launched, the entry of more and more stations would definitely hotten up the race and would see high qualty services being delivered. I look forward to the entry of Radio City - another popular FM Station- into Hyderabaf.Hopefully….Good times are around the corner….Time to brush the dirt off my FM Player
Update: Itz been on air since a while and now it would be changing its frequency from 95 Mhz to 98.3 Mhz from August 1st onwards.
Another Update: Wanna tune into Radio Mirchi over the Net. Click here to know how

I used to stay in Delhi and used to play FM all the time. When I came back to Hyderabad in January, 2005 I was badly missing FM. Especially Radio Mirchi. I was eagerly waiting for FM in Hyderabad. I was surprised when I got know through one of my friends that Radio Mirchi launched its operations in Hyderabad, but dissappointed got to know that it is playing only telugu songs. My mother tongue is telugu but for the past couple of years the songs that are been composed and written by the telugu film industry are rubbish.
Everyone know that Hyderabad is a multilingual city and Hindi plays a major role. Hyderabadi hindi is famous in India. I thought Radio Mirchi would understand this and would play both the languages together. But, only telugu is dissappointing the youth, coz we listen to hindi songs alot.
Humble request to Radio Mirchi… Please play hindi songs as well.

Now that Radio City has launched, Mirchi is kinda cold

AFAIK, FM radio can be heard off the net if someone Re-broadcasts it

Hello,
I am Ranjeeth Singh Thakur and I am to send this email to you after listening about the broadcasting bill……I think that media today has stooped to a all time low, just to increase the TRP rating(I presume).
I am copy/pasting the email conversation between a RadioMirchi RJ and me, I could not find the email address of the CEO of RadioMirchi and I would like to appreciate if you could give your personal opinion and to get the views of my countrymen.
———————————————————————
Hello RadioMirchi95 FM and RJ Anita,
Free gaa vastey phenyl taagey “Desham”(Which means Indians would drink Phenly if it comes free of cost)??????? this line was said by a RJ(Telugu) Anita at 9.16 pm on Monday, 2 July 06.
This line was regarding the “Ashada Masam Sale”
Is this considered to be funny? Don’t the producers think they need to look into what there RJ’S speak on-air?????????????
I am offended by this statement and it did not sound funny even remotely?
What does the R.J’s think? isnt she a Indian? Does anyone know what Indian’s( Free gaa vastey phenyl taagey) gave this world in every feild, name it and you have it, India’s contribution to the human civilization is not to be taken for granted and RJ Anita thinks that she sounded funny…….
I presume that the people enjoy radiomirchi because people had enough with these of remarks about our great country and people and you people have also joined the band wagon( your counter parts, the T.V and Movies, these two media had it’s own share of crude, useless jokes aimed at my country and countrymen).
I was enjoying the clean and healthy( no crude stuff, I mean) shows you guys aired. I just hope that guys have your act together and try not to offend anyone. Everyone wants to have a good time, I wish you take a note of this.
Always remember the golden rule : Never Generalise
Who on earth gave RadioMirchi people the right to generalise every Indian? Is this what you guys think ” Freedom of speech or Freedom of expression?”
If I do not receive the reply/explanation regarding this statement, I can make out how RadioMirchi works.
I always had a pleasant experience listening to Radiomirchi and this one statement has wiped-off all that good feeling about you guys.
It takes ages to build a brand image and a second ( a couple of more offending statements) to spoil it…..
I just hope that you guys take a note and be a little responsible, there’s a very difference or should I say a thin line that separates, humour and offense( I was surely offended), I think there might be some more guys who would agree with me.
That’s it guys.
From,
A Very Offended Listener.
Ranjeeth Singh Thakur.

The reply I received :
hi ranjeet kumar singh
no.1 i am sorry if i have hurt ur personal sentiments …………….but it was not meant in a negative manner .
no.2 boss i am as patriotic u are …….just b’cos i say something that has been beaten to death by one an all doesnt make me any less an indian………
no.3 marketing pundits the world over have confirmed that a small freebie given to the customers do show an increase in the sales figures………and
]whether its aashada maasm ,valentine or akshaya thritiya all these are recent phenomenen…….does that not hurt ur indian sentiments………????????these really bother me………so as a responsible citizen i need to talk about it…………now if u are refusing to look at the positive side of it and want to harp on how that has hurt ur sentiments of being an indian then i am sorry to say that u read it wrongly……..
The ability to laugh at ourselves, our shortcomings is an extremely indian , infact a very hyderabadi trait……..and i do follow ity up myself ……..in fact if u follow my showw regularly u will find that i make constant digs at myself ,and i make jokes on myselves on AIR - which is a hyderabadi and a very very indian triat……….a trait that even bill clinton didnt have…………(LAUGH)
But all said and done Ranjit if my statement has spurred u to respond to me in such a hurry it means that u were really offended by this statement of mine………which was really not intended…….so SORRY about that . As u said i didnt have to generalise about it…….i should have changed it and said it about myself ……. being the free liking person…………but frankly u made me think …………….and i assure u boss that i will atke extra care in the future>…………..but dont u dare say that u are a bigger indian then i am ………..kaha sunna sab maaf lekin is baat pe no maafi……….

Hello Ms.Anita,
Firstly, Thanks for the reply.
Secondly, my name is Ranjeeth Singh Thakur, there is no KUMAR. This is real bad manners to get someone’s name wrong even via the email media.
Thirdly, I never said I am a greater patriot than your’s, I do not think patriotism can be compared….I dono how you got to this conclusion.
Fourth, marketing is a diffrent aspect and your staement if you remember right ” Free gaa vastey Phenyl taagey Desham” was not needed and if discount sale bother you as you mentioned ( ” whether its aashada maasm ,valentine or akshaya thritiya all these are recent phenomenen…….does that not hurt ur indian sentiments………????????these really bother me………
This is your personal issue, I can’t comment about your stance and your statement is contradictory, one you say freebies push the sales and immediately you say it bother’s you…..
Fifth, this is a professional email and being a customer “You do not address the customer’s name wrongly and BOSS, what does that mean?will it be decent for me to address you as BABE,CHICK?????? ” think about it.
Sixth, I do not expect your apology and I wanted to express my view, it was my personal view and I made my point….and all I can do is just hook on to another frequency when I have your show on-air, I suppose that would not be issue for me and loosing a customer doesnt make a issue to you or your channel……
Seventh, as you have mentioned ” The ability to laugh at ourselves( ourselves, is making a fool out of ourself(read making a fool of yourself), even I make a fool of myself and it will not hurt anyone when I say that I would drink phenlye if I get it free of cost, If I was you, I would never generalise any statement.
Eight, please use case sensitive( India, Ranjeeth ), I presume this an be expected from a educated person, responsible person like you Ms.Anita.
Ninth, even the last paragraph is contradictory, firstly you say sorry for the statement and in the latter part you mention ” but dont u dare say that u are a bigger indian then i am ………..kaha sunna sab maaf lekin is baat pe no maafi……….”
Tenth, all I wanted to make my point and I made and I see that this has made you a little angry and the selection of words used for a customer arent visible, it seems to be more like a threat email rather than a expalnation/customer-RadioMirchi representative email.
Thank you anyways for the response, I think I can start a blog about the RJ’s and might be some day RJ’s in India also have some quality guidelines and I think I surely have people of my tribe(who got offended) and someday I will be back to listen your show when I can assure myself that I will not get to listen anything offensive.
Have a nice day and I apologize if I sounded offensive in my email.
Take care,
Ranjeeth Singh Thakur.
Your ex-listener.
P.S: You do a good work(there’s always room for improvement, I think so), cheers and I wish you all the best for all your future assignments.

Please note that it is not just this particular RJ, I want everyone to take a note and think for a second about what they talk( related to India).
I hope you understand my frustration and I would be thankful to you if you can provide me the email address for the CEO of RadiMirchi, I want to know the reactions of my brother’s and sister’s.

@Anjali: You can listen to FM on the mobile phone ONLY if your mobile has a built-in FM receiver. I have a Sony Ericsson K700i and I listen to FM on it. Check whether your phone has FM radio functionality in it.
@Sireesha: You can Listen to FM on the internet ONLY if someone else re-broadcasts it! Stay tuned to my blog for a detailed post on how to do that!

Why can’t we simply have dedicated FM Stations for langauages / states in India….just like we have TAMIL , TELUGU, KANNADA , ENGLISH language channels etc…
That way 24 hrs … we can have a KANNADA FM station (Kannada Chitra Geethagaloo, Kannada Pop (if at all there is that) , Kannada Rock (iddh anndhraey)
24 hrs we can have an ENGLISH FM (English Pop , Movie songs (OSTs), Reggae , Rap , Acid Rock etc
This way we can stop the quarelling.
PERSONALLY Iam a Tamilian who lovvvvvvvvvvves HINDI language cos its my country’s National Language….and Iam utterly disappointed that RADIO MIRCHI is playing 24 hrs in Telugu (although being a Hyderabadi I can understand Telugu also)…
Come on guys …we need to be like Bangaloreans….cosmopolitan and NATIONAL LANGUAGE LOVING……Only then we can be called TRUR INDIANs
and we should also love International language ENGLISH…so that we can be WORLD CITIZENs…
Dont you Kannadigas or Telugus or Tamils out there wnat to come out of your WELL and be called INDIANs or GLOBAL ENGLISH SPEAKING citizens instead just like Americans or Japanese…
Have separate channels exclusively or love and learn HINDI and ENGLISH
MERAA BHAARATH MAHAAAN….not Namma Karnataka or Manna Andhra great please
Cheers !!
INDIAN ( I DONT LOVE MY STATE AP… I LOVE MY FULL COUNTRY INDIA)

Gannyboy | July 25, 2006 at 4:36 pm
Radio Mirchi is totally disrespecting India’s NATIONAL LANGUAGE HINDI and is forcing people in Hyderbad to listen to Telugu (Rubbish songs with all double meanings describing female bodies and treating women as objects… Surprised how Telugu women love to listen to all this and nobody is opposing)..
Im not saying HINDI movies songs are not double-language …But if 30% of modern day movies have vulgar sounding songs… that dont even appeal to youth (except perverted youth of India), then TELUGU MOVIES clearly lead the country in VULGAR sounding obscene language songs (ateasy 50% of Telugu movie songs are YUCK YUCK… They suck …cos they are potraying women as objects… WHY RADIO MIRCHI is not playing HINDI in Hyderabad… Mirchi is spoiling its image which it enjoys in Mumbai and Bangalore…Radio Mirchi should play 16 hrs Hindi…(so many cool songs in Hindi… I Hyderabadis watch so many Hindi movies and buy so many cool Hindi songs CDs
and cassettes and even MTV and CHANNEL V have been playing Hindi in Hyd (even before Radio Mirchi and City came to town).
Then whats the problem with RADIO MIRCHI then in playing Hindi..
Here are suggestions if the RADIO MIRCHI guys are hell bent upon localising content in the city they operate in
1) Have RJs speak in Telugu in Hyderabad (local language …just as in Bangalore they speak Kannada and announce the Hindi songs / programs and) and announce the latest Hindi songs (POP and MOVIE songs) that are rocking India and Bollywood now (who cares about Tollywood… no one in the World except Andhra housewives I guess)..
2) Where are the Hyderabadi Jokes (Hyd is popular for its Hyderabadi Lingo and comedy)
Radio Mirchi should have an RJ who speaks HYDERABADI HINDI and wins Hyderabadi hearts (not stoopid Telugu jokes please)
HYDERABAD has youth who love latest songs from
rocking Hindi movies … so have a nice RJ and have atleast 30 mins or 1 hour of JOKE PROGRAMS daily
3)Hyderabad has large Urdu populace… RADIO MIRCHI forgot about it totally (very poor research by them…. thats why the city is called HYDERabad and not Bhagyanagar). Please also speak some Urdu in between RJs…to please our Old City and Urdu friends
4) Have ENGLISH POP Songs and Rock and latest Bilboard nos… Hyderabad is an International City…we are not a village in AP …where we listen to B-grade , double meaning Telugu songs only.
In summary to make RADIO MIRCHI really HOT…
Have 16 hours of Hindi Songs… 4 hours of Relugu Songs and 4 hours of English songs (Mix up all these and make a nice HOT MASALAY DAAR FM Station.
5) Finally please please please have good RADIO JOCKEYS with youthful good English speaking voices (like Sexy voices like Sunaiaana (of Radio City in Bangalore) , Darius of Radio City in Bangalore).
We are HYDERABAD…the 5th largest Metro City in India…BIGGER Than Bangalore (where I have been living since last 1 year). So let our COSMOPOLITAN ATTITUDE COME to the front…Lets not be ANDHRA CENTRIC or TELUGU-FANATIC please…
if still Radio Mirchi doesnt wanna change…and wants to play 24×7 TELUGU Village songs… then they can better change the Channel name also to Telugu… RADIO MIRPAKAAYA (Mirchi in Telugu).
“Idhi Chaala Vaydee Guru”…
HOPE my home town HYDERABAD changes fast like Bangalore and other fast developing Metros and Hyderabadis learn to speak better English and Hindi and become truly Global and Indianised and dont remain TELUGU FROGS in TELUGU WELL
Cheers
ganny.

Chittaranjan | July 25, 2006 at 6:02 pm
Well, Those are some really thoughtful comments Mr.Ganny, but I personally think that most of them won’t be implemented. The radio channels thrive on Commercialization and are under the false impression that the more exposure they have, the greater will be their popularity! While its true to some extent, it may not hold good forever.
You’ll agree with me when I say that a majority of people in Hyderabad ar bi-lingual i.e. can understand/speak both hindi & Telugu but the so-called ‘mass’ of the audience groove only to Telugu songs and this is what is driving Mirchi to be an all-telugu channel. And I don’t see that changing all too sudden!

HOPE my home town HYDERABAD changes fast like Bangalore and other fast developing Metros and Hyderabadis learn to speak better English and Hindi and become truly Global and Indianised and dont remain TELUGU FROGS in TELUGU WELL
Cheers all fm 95 mirchi lovers

Hai I am Sreenivas Lanka, I am a Grpahic Designer, I am working in Laser Dot Limited, I am very much intrested in radio programmes. Radio Mirchi progrmmes are very good, but major problem clarity, and too much distrubnce even to day also (98.3). But remaining channels are coming very very clear in where ever u go. But this radio mirchi fm 95 or 98.3 we are facing very problem. Radio should rotate in one angle then only coming other wise too much noise is coming. Please rectify this problem.
Exactly I don’t konow how to express this prblem. Other wise do one thing, tune any mobile 98.3 then only u know very well.
thanks, and congrats … wish u best of luck.

Main reason today …why there are so many people from AP and so many NORTH INDIANs and so many beautiful girls working in Bangalore…is because…Hyderabad doesn’t have that many oppurtunities…because Hyderabad is a dry land…filled with thousands of TELUGU speaking people…who will stick to their TELUGU and their RADIO MIRCHI and not allow even North Indians to enjoy in their land or not even consider that North India is part of their country INDIA only.
Bangalore today has every GLOBAL MNC (A-Z..u name it ….u have that company here)…and they have built MEGA MEGA CAMPUSSES… INTEL , HP , SAP , ACCENTURE , MS, MOTOROLA , PHILIPS, IBM , SIEMENS, etc… All this because BANGALOREANS speak great ENGLISH or if they dunno , they atleast put efforts and learn it.
But even here in office , I find Telugu people …highly professional Managers also speak TELUGU only..in a huge MNC. Very Bad.
This way we can never open up to the WORLD and never be truly global. FOREIGNERS cant understand a word of Telugu and ENGLISH is the UNIVERSAL mode of COMMUNICATION for any foreigner … French , German or Portugese…and guess what we Andhra people speak hopeless ENGLISH Telugu…thats why Many MNCs think twice or thrice before entering Hyderabad and that why BANGALORE has grown so much because 1000s of Foreign Companies have set up their huge operations here… thanks to availability of TRULY COSMOPOLITAN , Large ENGLISH SPEAKING INDIAN POPULACE in Hyderabad who are Modern in thinking and not narrow minded like Hyderabadis… In Hyd even if a girl wears jeans or short sleeves or sleeveless…people will think wrongly. But in Bangalore ….you can see GIRLS are more FREE and are very friendly and very broad minded….unlike Hyderabad where 999 out of 1000 girls will wear sarees or salwars till their neck maybe.
We are OLDY - OUT OF FASHION DULL TYPES…We Hyderabadis….We are only a BIG CITY on paper ..but we can never become like Delhi, Gurgaon , Pune , Mumbai or Bangalore.
We Bangaloreans listen to RADIO MIRCHI and its REALLLLLY HOT with latest HINDI hits and RADIO CITY is really WOW WOW !! with latest Hindi and even COOOOOOOL ENGLISH songs……so FRESH ..some of them are played on Radio City even before they are shown on MTV or Channel V.

ROTATING RADIO MIRCHI ah !! So even that SUCKS in Hyderabad uh !
Sreenivas Lanka talks about Rotating the Radio….to listen to UNCLEAR 98.3 FM. What humour …a ROTATING RADIO …he heh eh
THANK GOD …in Bangalore … we have AMAZING CLARITY…. FANTASTIC DIGITAL QUALITY RECEPTION
of Radio Mirchi (98.3 FM) , Radio One (94.3 FM) and Radio City (91 FM)… So many cool jokes and amazingly creative Ads on radio that make your laugh ..WOW ! and added to that the cooooool voices of Radio Jockeys and added to that…the latest INDI-POP songs , super - duper hits songs
from BOLLYWOOD …For Example… 24 hours in Bangalore …THE COOLEST and HOTTEST HITS are played by all these 3 channels and what is great is that these channels compete with each other in playing songs which ENTIRE INDIA listens to and ALSO GIVE LISTENERS from all over India a pleasant and CLEAR LISTENING EXPERIENCE…Examples of what we hearin Bangalore 24 hours a day…. EVEN in OFFICE while working on SOFTWARE PROJECTS ( THE SIGNALS are CRYSTAL CLEAR ….if Iam in office or even on outskirts of Bangalore or in a CAVE..
This is what we hear and enjoy…on BANGALORE’s 3
COOOOOOL FM RADIO WAVES…Mirchi , City and One.
Apart from that we also have a 4th station called RAINBOW FM (101.3 FM) playing Cool English and Hindi Hits for 8 hours in a day….apart from KANNADA Local hits and Songs
Apart from that for LOCAL Kannada lannguage Fanatics …we have 102.9 FM of AIR (Govt. channel) for the oldies and Local Language freaks.
Then there is also the 107.6 FM (GYAN VANI) of AIR (Govt. channel) for the people who want GYAAN and are interested in SCIENCE & TECH.
NOW THAT is what is called a CITY and those are called FM Channels and RADIO BROADCASTING…
not the poor , F____G signals in HYDERABAD and horrible BROADCASTING
Note: This is just a sample of what the youth and old of Bangalore listen and enjoy in a day….I cant mention all the SONGS here..
“Aap ki kasam”, “Aashiq Banaya” , “Bulla Ki Jaana Kaun” , Songs from BLUFFMASTER, Zeher , Murder, Paheli , LATA HITS , KISHORE KUMARs GOLDEN VOICE , “Yeh Shaam Mastaani”, “Roop Tera Nastn , Songs from KRISSH , ENGLISH POP Songs , Latest Rock Bands, LIVE SHOWS , CONCERTS , ALL LATEST CHANNEL V and MTV HITS are played on RADIO FM channels here….
HYDERABAD will always REMAIN A VILLAGE …with people listening to TELUGU PAATALOO…for 24 hours …..BY ROTATING their RADIOs and listening to the POOR QUALITY LANGUAGE of RADIO JOCKEYS… if they dont change and become MODERN like BANGALORE soon…
Come on HYDERABAD …..WAKE UP to the MUSIC..and WAKE UP to the LATEST in RADIO BROADCASTING…and CATER to a MIXED CROWD or North Indians and South Indians (and IAM A PURE SAMBAR EATING SOUTH INDIAN saying that)… Dont suck like this with poor programming and POOR SIGNALS.
HOPE A TEAM FROM HYDERRABADs FM Stations VISITS BANGALORE and learns what is FM all about and how the RADIO JOCKEYs SPEAK ENGLISH , HINDI and all languages here.
INNOVATION is the KEY. On RADIO CITY …here in BANGALORE…we have a program called COSMOPOLITAN COUNTDOWN….where the RADIO JOCKEY Vasanthi speaks a little of all major languages in India …and SONGS in KANNADA, TELUGU (Yes TELUGU in Bangalore) , HINDI , BENGALI , PUNJABI etc.. are played based on users request. THIS IS CALLED INDIA… not purely sticking to local langauge…
WOW !! BANGALORE… WAY TO GO…
BEING A HYDERABADI… I STILL FEEL SAD… WHY MY CITY with so much TALENT and so much BRAINs is acting so VILLAGISH and so immature and so NON_COSMOPOLITAN.
Please pass on this message to ENIL BROADCASTING , RADIO CITY GUYS in HYDERABAD…
There is no harm in learning from others… and improving…Its much better than being FROGS in our own well and BEING IGNORANT of what is happening in the World outside (THE FM WORLD in this case).

Ganny | August 4, 2006 at 10:40 am
TOLLYWOOD SONGS are played on FM in Hyderabad…
Nobody knows TOLLYWOOD except one state in INDIA called AP.
But in Bangalore…70% of songs and Music on FM Channels are BOLLYWOOD and HOLLYWOOD SONGS.
They also take care to ensure that all announcements are in LOCAL LANGUAGE KANNADA and ENGLISH and that 30% of programming also caters to KANNADA language listeners…
NOW THAT is called a well balanced approach….satisfying the old people, not disrespecting local sentiment and at the same time
GIVING MAJOR IMPORTANCE to PLAYING SONGS which ENTIRE INDIA is listening to (i.e. BOLLWOOD which everyone in India knows….and HOLLYWOOD and INTERNATIONAL POP SONGS which ENTIRE ENGLSIH speaking WORLD listens to) unlike TOLLYWOOD or KANNADA FILM HOOD(whatever)which only local state peepals would know.
NOW MY DEAR HYDERABADIs …you decide yourself
whether you love listening to WHAT INDIA and ENTIRE WORLD is listening or
you want to BE LIKE A FROG WITH EARPHONES within HYDERABADI / AP WELL listening only to TELUGU.
AREY CHICHA…GROW UP YAARON. HUM LOGANH HYDERABADI LOGANH… CHAI PEETHAY AUR HINDI BHEE BOLTHAY NAA… AUR IT COMPANIES toh BAHUTH SAARAY HAY….PHIR YEH TELUGU TELUGU KARKAY…KAIKU PAAGAL HORAY…CHICHA.
KAIKU MIYAN…KAIKU … URDU aur HYDERABADI JOKES NAI HONAA KYA FM PAY , BOLLYWOOD HITS NAKKO KYA ??
VOI-EECH HONAA NAA…
MAI TAMILIAN HOKAY BHE VOI-EECH PASAND KARTHOON.
KAIKU BOLAY THO….IAM A TRUE BLUE HYDERABADI (so what If I am living in Banglaore since last 1 year)
Cheers

@Ganny: While it is indeed good that you get to hear nice music in Bangy, I think it is unfair on your part to say that the stations in Hyderabad are lagging behind. The FM channels have been existing in Bangy for more than 3 years while it has been just over three months since they’ve set up shop in Hyderabad!
Maybe the Govt. is to blame for it…not granting licences quickly enuff or whatever the reason maybe…but the fact remains that Hyderabad is one of the fastest GROWING FM markets….
And also you say that FM channels in Bangalore play more bollywood whereas Hyderabadi Channels play Tollywood…but that is a mere pointer to the fact that Tollywood is wayy bigger than the puny little Kollywood! I’ve no doubt that if the FM channels play only Kannada songs non-stop, they would exhaust their libraries in a week
While Telugu songs can go on and on and on….
No doubt that the Quality of RJ’s and teh programming leaves a lot to be desired in Hyderabad, but this will only get better with Time…not overnight! Bangalore was at the same situation 3 years ago…while you were still running around coaching centres in Hyderabad…and now it has grown really good. And trust me, so will Hyderabad.

Ganny | August 6, 2006 at 9:50 am
Yaar Chittaranjan… I really appreciate you for taking time to reply to my reallly huggggggggge blogs he heh
I agree with you and also subscribe to the opinion that HYDERABADs FM stations are actually “NEW KIDS on the BLOCK” and they need a lot to learn.
I hope these are only TEETHING PROBLEMS for RADIO MIRCHI and RADIO CITY….and that they will become COSMOPOLITAN and cater to Indian audiences sooner than later.
WHY RE-INVENT THE WHEEL CHITTs ? Why can’t Hyderabad just apply BANGALORE’s SUCCESS MODEL to
HYDERABAD and see how it goes…
Why should Hyderabad take 3 more years of FM Progg..to come to a stage where Bangalore is today … I don’t think Bangalore took 3 years.. You may be wrong..
Given its cosmopolitan nature and OUTLOOK and ATTITUDE of BANGALOREANs to SUPPORT all people from INDIA and keep them happy…they would have fine tuned themselves to a broad spectrum of FM Progg… within a year itself.
Going by you CHITTS …You say Bangalore has learnt so much in 3 years time in FM Programming and come this far to give people the most amazing experience…
Daily Jokes (in HINDI…which INDIANs UNDERSTAND…not just BANGALOREANS) ,
HINDI POP (more popular all over India than just Bangalore), ENGLISH POP and ENGLISH MOVIE SONGS, WORLD MUSIC , INTERVIEWS with BPO and IT companies HEADS…to give the Job seeking YOUTH all that “perspctive” , Hits of yesteryears , and a whole lot of CREATIVE CONTENT for YOUTH and OLDIES to keep them glued to those earphones or Radio Sets…
So Hyderabad’s WORK IS CUT OUT naah … They know what to do… THEY HAVE THE SUCCESS MODEL of BANGALORE before them…They just have to use this as a guideline and follow suit.
Anthay Kaadha… .Maybe they also could take 6 months to get their bearings right.
HAVING A SUCCESSFUL MODEL before us… HYDERABADI FM Stations should consider itself lucky and implement that success in Hyd.
Also…one aspect I still beg to differ a bit on your opinion
about playing a whole lot of TELUGU SONGS and not giving HINDI even a fair due.
Forget Kollywood (or Kannada)… That is insignificant…But then even Telugu would be not truly having LIBRARIEs and LIBRARIEs of “QUALITY” music to boast about…when it comes to QUALITY , CREATIVITY of CONTENT , MEANINGFUL SONGS , TALENT and MUSIC in BOLLYWOOD and TAMIL FILMS.
QUALIY is IMPORTANT …not QUANTITY..
and both Kannada and Telugu lack QUALITY (Nowadays all double meaning or triple meaning …maybe more :-)) vulgar sounds on women in Telugu…
You cant even compare A.R. Rahman (of Tamil Industry ….dunno if youd call it TAMILYWOOD BOLLYWOOD Industry and hah a).
HOLLYWOOD may collaborate with BOLLYWOOD and when I went to FRANCE and SWEDEN last month I saw that they also love BOLLYWOOD songs… Nobody even knows what TOLLYWOOD or TAMILYWOOD or KOLLYWOOD or POLLYWOOD is all about.
BOLLYWOOD is BIG BOSS…
GO and ASK HYDERABADI MUSIC LOVERS…. if CHANNEL V and MTV Content (esp. HINDI and HINDI POP and offourse some melodious ENGLISH Songs , Movie Tracks and POP) are better or the Jasmine flower garden wearing, thunder thighs, HEAVY BOO_S Southie women running around South Indian Trees or Malaysian Trees with Heroes who look like Uncles and still study in college or some very young, troubled hairy men with beards …looking like vagabonds in colleges with sickles and big knives filled with blood and singing songs to inspire the youth to violence are good ?
and almost all the good sounding songs in Telugu FM are offcourse direct LIFT KARADEY… copied from / dubbed versions of Tamil hit movies(excepy may be 30 % of Telugu Music Directors who know something called ORIGINALITY)
What saddens me about my great city Hyd is :
They wont allow ORIGINALITY in Hyderabad… NO TAMIL MOVIEs and allowed to play in Hyd. But in Bangalore…so many Tamil , Malyalam , Bengali movies release.
BANGALOREANs are more TOLERANT to all INDIANs…and CATER TO PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER INDIA.
Thats why BANGALORE has grown so much and many TELUGU people love to settle here… leaving AP also… because VARIETY is the KEY.
Here you get MATURE PEOPLE who LOVE ANYTHING that is GOOD…. BE IT HINDI Songs , TELUGU SONGS , BENGALI CUISINE , ANDHRA MESSES ,
BELGIAN FOOD , INDIPOP SONGS , JAPANESE FOOD,
SWISS MADE VOLVO BUSES (for City Transport) etc.,..etc..etc..etc…etc..
We can see the feeling of INDIAN-nESS in BANGALORE…For Ex..Here Punjabis are married to Kannadigas.. , Hyderabadis are married to Bengalis etc…
For a CITY which is still so FANATICAL about KANNADA LANGUAGE … (even now on buses you will see Routes marked in KANNADA only…
and where some elements break glasses of Software Companies if the names of the companies are not painted in KANNADA apart from ENGLISH ,
so much Tolerance to LOT OF HINDI MUSIC and NORTH INDIAN INFLUX and INFLUENCE is really praiseworthy.
In Hyd ..we dont have such Telugu fantiscism….or such PRO-Telugu people who want only telugu.. With rapid growth in IT sector and other sectors , employment boom is more and we too have Northies , Urdu friends and other friends who would love to listen to all kinds of Hindi Songs, Urdu ghazals, Hyderabadi Humour …in Hyderabadi “LINGO”..etc..
I see that WE TELUGU PEEPALS ( I use the word “WE” because I am , although a Tamilian is still a proud HYDERABADi wherever in the World I may be) are so brainy (30%of Bangalore’s IT industry is dominated by ANDHRA PEEPALs only)
and yet we don’t use our brains and be as creative as Bangaloreans.
COME ON HYDERABADis … GET MORE CREATIVE AND COSMOPOLITAN… .You can do it !!!
IF WE LISTEN TO TELUGU FOREVER….We can NEVER LEARN ENGLISHOO and WE CAN NEVER BECOME GOOD
ENGLISH SPEAKERS LIKE BAngaloreans…. I WANT MY CITY HYDERABAD TO BEAT BANGALORE…COME ON FOLKS …WE CAN DO IT…
Imagine how A RADIO STATION PLAYED A MAJOR PART IN CHANGING THE WAY YOUTH OF THIS COUNTRY THINK IN “RANG-DE-BASANTHI”
Likewise Hyderabadi Youth…PLEASE SHOUT to the FM STATIONs MIRCH and CITY in APNA
HAYDRAAHBAAD and SIKINDRABAAD TWIN CITIES to HAVE JHAKAAS and S_XY ENGISH CONTENT and COOL RADIO JOCKEYS… COME ON HYD….GROW UP and BECOME A BIG CITY … We have METRO SHOES in ABIDS…We only need METROSEXUALs and METRO- THOUGHT PROCESSES !!
JAI HIND. JAI HAYDRAAHBAAD !!

Phew! took me a while to read that really loooong comment…….and I kinda agree with some of the points, not all of them mind u!
Teething problems, Yes! Whether it will be overcome in a short span of Six months, hard to say!
And I quite disagree with the view that ‘take a sucessful model and start off from that’ the tastes of people in both the cities are different! the same model won’t work at both places. Agreed that Bangy is more Cosmo than Hyderabad, but lets face it, they both are good as they are…and dot’ya agree that to change the city according to the radio is kinda difficult as compared to changing the radio according to the city! Each has its pros and cons…and puhleeze…don’t tell me that even in a field as mundane as Radio, there should be competition amongst cities
Regarding the ‘Quality’ Vs. ‘Quantity’ that u speak about, thatz a pretty old-fashioned topic that can be bandied about almost in any topic. I agree with u that Hindi and Tamil music (letz not take names of all those ‘Wood’s
) is wayy better than current telugu songs or kannada songs. And Thatz why I ‘hate’ Mirchi…..in their efforts to cater to the ‘mass’ audience, they constantly dishout absolute crap! IMHO, City and to an extent Rainbow are the complete stations as far as catering to different segments of audience goes….they mayn’t be as Good as Bangy ones…but they’ll get there I’m sure!
And Ganny, since u r so passionate abt Hyderabad, I’d like you to be a part of this Forum called FreeHyderabad (http://freehyderabad.invisionplus.net ) mebe we can continue our discussion there
P.S: Can u plz tone down the Size of the comment…and also the use of CAPS!
Tnx

however, that being the case, i am a greaaaaat fan of mirchi radio and listen to it daily on my way to and from work…and the hottest RJ of all is…..ANAMIKA….she’z wow! her voice and diction r gr8! another fav. is Gowthami…superb she is! these gals really take the presuure off driving in hi-volume traffic(bumper-bumper)….
happy listenin’, folks!
bye….
and pls. do drive carefully…follow rules and no road-rage please….be calm and cool while driving…no point in building up adrenaline…take it easy…

hi Radio mirchi, you r doing excellent and keep up the good work.
plz don’t mind the in-tolerable comments made by these guys who just can’t tolerate other languages to grow except hindi n english especially Mr.Gunny.
i agree fully with the comments made by telugu gal.
nice replies by Mr.Chittaranjan from time to time.
for your kind information of all the viewers, most of the thechies who r responsible for this fast growth of IT and other industries no matter whereever they r located ( might be due to political and geographical developments and pressures and advantages whatever) are proudly from AP only and u can find them whereever u go whether Delhi, pune, bangalore or even silicon valley.
these people think india is all hindi, and they just can’t tolerate other language speaking people. “Telugu is called Italian of the East”, well known for its sweet and rhythmic words, and has a strong background n history.
and as told by you, those double-meaning songs are the result of so-called hinglish or cosmopolitan culture only. if u see the negative part of anything , then your mind is corrupted and needs to be rectified. and this ganny has much more advanced viruses having birth in his mind.
desabhakti gurinchi evaro cheppa valasina avasaram telugu vaallaki eppudu kalagaledu, kalagabodu kudaa. Raayaprolu gaaru Aenado annaru, Ae desamegina endu kaalidinaa.. pogadara nee talli bhhomi bhaaratini

nee puttina desaani kaani, nee bhaashani gaani avamaaniste kanna talli rommu guddatamto samaaname.
so i sincerely request all other language speaking people to mind your language and your work and for ur sake stop posting the offensive comments.
Jai telugu talli

Naga Raju | October 18, 2006 at 12:38 am
and for ur kind information, i am a gr8 fan of telugu.
though i live in delhi, i just can’t tolerate any person making offensive comments about my language ,village, district, state and country.
in the name of country u can’t make offensive comments aby one particular place.
thats it.

Naga Raju | October 18, 2006 at 12:40 am
also one more thing i just want to tell you, telugu is the mostly spoken language after hindi in India.
Thanks for listening to me.

Critical Eye | October 23, 2006 at 6:17 am
Hello
I was reading a longg rebuke from one Ranjit Kumar …oops I mean Ranjit Singh Thakur. It was a terribly boring email even if it had an intellectual presentation and logical quantification. I just wonder how all this comes from a guy who sounds very ‘un-telugu’. These are typically a few guys who mistake patriotism to saying all good things even if most of those dont exist. That is just being blind. I can name a million things for which we can feel bad about in India. We can talk about them as it is yet love our country. That would be patriotism and otherwise it would be fanaticism. Do people respect each other in our country like in other countries? They have least respect when it comes to others (ofcourse we are not talking of exceptions here). This Ranjit looks like can watch an entire movie even if all that is shown is just an Indian map or something on screen. That is being stupid. patriotism is about trying to know where we fall short and trying to work to eradicate it in a way possible for us and to protect our country. Patriotism is not about saying that it is ok to pee on the roads (like most do) just coz it is our country.
Just FYI …am not trying to defend or offend anyone including Anita. I just feel most Indians have a strange perception about being patriotic.

Radio City 91.1 FM «&hellip | October 25, 2006 at 9:25 pm
[...] After Radio Mirchi, which had earlier changed its frequency from 95 FM to 98.3 FM it is the turn of Radio City now! It makes sense however…since in most cities, Radio City operates on the 91 FM frequency. Wonder how it had to settle for the Point One tag after the ninety one! So all ye Radio City lovers in Hyderabad…remember to tune into 91.1 FM from 27th October hence….. [...]

Hello Mr.Chittaranjan,
Well, I went through the long list of postings by different users, asking about the procedure for applying for the post of RJ. I am one of those aspirants, who is interested to become an RJ. I know that you are not connected to Radio mirchi in any way, but it would be really great if you can let the users know about the right contact person, whom they can approach for auditions.
Thanks and Regards
Vinay

hi
the way you treat with the people on live through phone call, is very childish thing, i don’t find any sense of humour, really a listener calls u people play like anything, that you know everything, so how it is justiceable to say. though the listeners are attracting towards these kind of stuffs but you are there to entertain but not for humiliate any body’s character.
just you people keep in mind, while performing ok,
